Spent Catalyst Recycling & Recovery
Artios Metals evaluates spent refinery, petrochemical, chemical and industrial catalysts for commercially viable recycling, recovery, refining and downstream processing markets.
Material focus
Catalyst streams we consider.
Artios works with material owners and qualified recovery partners to develop routes based on the catalyst chemistry, support material, physical form, quantity, location, documentation and processor requirements.
Artios reviews fresh, spent, surplus, off-specification and residual catalyst materials.
Commercial evaluation
What determines a viable recovery route?
Contained metal value is only the starting point. A material with valuable metals may still require a specific preparation or downstream route before it is commercially viable.
- Representative assay and metal content
- Moisture or loss on ignition
- Carbon, sulfur and other contaminants
- Catalyst support or carrier
- Physical form and particle size
- Packaging and net weight
- Material origin and prior application
- Current location and country of origin
- Waste or transport classification where applicable
- Minimum lot size and processor acceptance criteria
Industrial applications
Refinery and petrochemical spent catalysts.
Hydroprocessing and other refinery catalyst streams can contain combinations of nickel, molybdenum, cobalt, tungsten and vanadium. Commercial options vary according to chemistry, contamination, carbon and sulfur content, support material, location and the receiving facility’s process.
Artios helps industrial generators organize the technical information required to approach suitable recovery markets and compare commercially appropriate routes.

PGM-bearing catalyst materials.
Industrial catalysts containing platinum, palladium, rhodium, silver or other precious metals require representative sampling and reliable analytical information because small differences in grade can materially change value.
Artios develops commercial routes for qualifying PGM-bearing catalyst and secondary materials through appropriate downstream markets.

Information to send for an initial review.
Do not ship samples or material until written acceptance and shipping instructions have been provided by the receiving party.
- Catalyst name, manufacturer or application if known
- Current assay, SDS or chemical analysis
- Approximate net quantity
- Physical form and current packaging
- Current location and country of origin
- Clear photographs
- Moisture/LOI and known contaminants where available
- Expected timing
- Whether the material is a one-time lot or recurring generation
Specialized routes
Explore catalyst recovery by material type.
Each route is evaluated against the material profile and the acceptance requirements of qualified downstream facilities.
NiMo & CoMo catalyst recycling
Hydroprocessing catalysts containing nickel, cobalt, molybdenum, vanadium and related metals.
02Platinum & palladium catalyst recycling
PGM-bearing catalysts and secondary materials requiring reliable sampling and analytical data.
03Copper & CuZn catalyst recycling
Copper- and copper-zinc-bearing catalysts evaluated against qualified downstream markets.
04Refinery & petrochemical catalyst recovery
Material-specific commercial review for planned change-outs and recurring catalyst generation.
Commercial role
A responsible commercial counterparty.
Artios operates as a commercial sourcing, trading and recovery-solutions company. We do not represent Artios as the final treatment facility unless a specific Artios-owned facility exists and is separately identified. Where physical recycling, refining, transport, sampling or regulated services are required, appropriately qualified third parties perform those services.
